How many courses are there in the North Penn High School Engineering Academy?

 

 

 

The NPHS has five courses.  They are Introduction to Engineering Design (IED), Principles of Engineering (POE), Digital Electronics (DE) and Engineering Design and Development (EDD).

When can I apply for the North Penn High School Engineering Academy?

 

 

 

Students can begin the application process starting in January of their 9th grade year.  Applications and more information can be found on our Apply page.

Can I join the Engineering Academy when I am a sophomore or junior ?

 

 

 

Yes.  Current 9th, 10th and 11th grade students can apply by completing the application found on our Apply page.

 

 
 
 

 

4.

Is there a specific course sequence?

 

 

 

Yes.  It is recommended that students take IED and POE during grade 10, DE and CIM during grade 11 and EDD in grade 12.  If entering grade 10, and your schedule does not allow for two courses to be taken concurrently, please schedule IED.

 

 
 
 

 

5.

Can students earn college credit in the Engineering Academy?

 

 

 

Yes. Students have the opportunity to earn college credit if they pass the course with an 85% or higher and a stanine score of six or higher on the Project Lead The Way College Credit final exam.  Our affiliate university is Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT).  Please visit the student and parent section of the RIT website for more information.
